If you are a couple or a group of friends with one free evening, Lotte World after four is the easiest win, because you step off the subway into a lit, running park. If you have a full spare day and the weather is good, Everland gives you more for it, as the zoo and gardens add variety that Lotte World cannot match.

Tickets and timing
Buy tickets in advance, always, because gate prices are the highest available. Third party packages are frequently cheaper than the gate, and for Everland the shuttle plus ticket bundle also removes the transfer. Prices are in won and change by season and by ticket type, so confirm the current figures on the official site before booking.
Weekdays in term time for anything approaching short queues. Weekends, public holidays and school holidays push the main rides well over an hour.
Inside the park

Height restrictions are posted and enforced on the main rides, so check before promising a child a particular coaster.
Food inside is ordinary and expensive; the Lotte complex has a mall with better options.

Treating Everland as a Seoul attraction. It is a trip out of the city, so plan the journey and the return as part of the day.
Going on a Saturday or a holiday and then spending the visit in queues. If a weekend is your only option, the evening ticket helps most.

Choosing Everland in high summer for the full day without a plan for shade and water. Either go late or pick Lotte World.
Writing off Lotte World as only for children. The evening session, the lit indoor section and the mall and tower nearby make it a perfectly good adult evening.
Cramming both parks into one trip with little time. Each is a decent chunk of a day, so choose one unless you have several spare days.
